HLT-G500 is a multifunctional tribometer designed to test galling resistance of materials as per ASTM G196. It can also perform Pin-on-Disk test as per ASTM G99. HLT-G500 features two actuators: linear actuator for normal loading mounted on top of the instrument and rotary actuator for friction motion mounted on the bottom side. HLT-G500 is supplied with a fatigue-rated high-precision two-axis load cell for normal force and friction torque measurements. High rigidity of the machine is ensured by two heavy-duty steel blocks connected by four Cr-plated steel shafts.

In this configuration, a compressive load is applied between two flat specimen and then one specimen is rotated a certain number of revolutions. A special ball joint is used to ensure the alignment of the contacting surfaces during testing.

In this configuration, a pin is loaded on top of a flat specimen and the latter is rotated a certain number of revolutions at a selected speed.

HLT-G500 is controlled through a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system including a touch screen located on the front panel. Test data and machine status are continuously acquired and displayed on the touch screen during testing.
HLT-G500 is supplied with a PC-based user interface to ensure user-friendly testing. Actuators are controlled by built-in servo drive allowing position and speed control.
User friendly test profile editor allows creation of custom testing programs based on above control schemes for linear and rotary actuators. This allows the user to produce a variety of test programs and to save them for future use.
Test data are displayed graphically on PC screen during testing and saved to disk.
