HLT-200 is a special tribometer designed to test the tribological performance of self-lubricated cylindrical bearings. Friction is generated between a cylindrical steel shaft and the self-lubricated bearing. HLT-200 features two testing stages. In the upper one, the shaft rotates while the bearing is stationary, generating single line wear on bearing’s internal surface. In the lower stage, the shaft is stationary and the bearing rotates, generating wear over all internal surface.
HLT-200 is equipped with a hydraulic loading system generating up to 200 KN of normal load. The hydraulic actuator is equipped with a built-in high performance servo-valve and a high-resolution position sensor. The hydraulic power unit is supplied complete with a variable displacement hydraulic pump, safety system, cooling system, high pressure filter and accumulator.
HLT-200 is supplied with an environmental chamber enabling friction testing under controlled atmosphere. The chamber is connected to an external source of dry/moist air controlled by the PLC. In addition, the shaft and bearing can be cooled down to sub-zero temperature by circulating liquid at -50°C through the shaft or sample holder. This enables to perform friction testing down to -30°C.
Shaft and bearing holder design allows circulating liquid in the tribological contact, enabling users to perform friction tests in water. Moreover, circulating liquid can contain abrasive particles to test the effect of third body on friction and wear resistance.
HLT-200 is controlled through a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system including a touch screen located on the front panel. Test data and machine status are continuously acquired and displayed on the touch screen during testing. HLT-200 is supplied with a PC-based user interface to ensure user-friendly testing. Hydraulic actuator control is provided by a state-of-the-art servo-valve enabling different control schemes, namely force control, position control and force rate control. The two rotary actuators (servo-motors) are controlled by a 2-axis servo-drive allowing position and speed control.
User friendly test profile editor allows the creation of custom testing programs based on above control schemes for linear and rotary actuators. This allows the user to produce a variety of test programs and to save them for future use.
